The Kofi Annan Foundation, Democracy & Culture Foundation and One Young World are now accepting applications for the 2026 Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize.
The Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy prize recognises exceptional young leaders who are advancing democracy, human rights, and civic participation in their communities and beyond. Applications for the 2026 Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize are open from 15 April to 17 May 2026.
The winner will receive:
- USD 10,000
- One year of mentorship with a recognised democracy expert
- The opportunity to speak at the forthcoming Athens Democracy Forum, where the prize will be presented
In addition, the winner and nine finalists will receive a scholarship to attend the One Young World Summit 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa, taking place from 3–6 November 2026.
