Geneva, 29 February 2012

Mr. Kofi Annan, the Joint Special Envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States, will be in New York from Wednesday 29 February to 2 March 2012.  During his visit, Mr. Annan will have a series of meetings with the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, and hold consultations with Member States on the crisis in Syria.
Mr. Annan intends to travel to Cairo to meet the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Nabil al-Araby, and plans to visit other countries in the region soon thereafter.  We will share further details once the Special Envoy’s itinerary and plans are established.
