More about Mimoun

Mimoun Berrissoun is a social scientist, community organizer and peace advocate working in the intersection of prevention, equal rights and youth empowerment.

In 2012, Mimoun founded 180 Grad Wende, a voluntary civil society initiative based in Germany. Tackling social inequality and the lack of awareness on the necessity of prevention among disadvantaged, radicalized youth in Europe, 180 Grad Wende quickly grew into an award-winning NGO with global engagement reaching more than thousands of people in prisons, schools and difficult neighbourhoods.

With his first-hand experience in empowering left-behind youth and in successfully initiating and coordinating social projects, Mimoun has become a well-known speaker, trainer and consultant. He served as an expert for renowned organizations like the United Nations, Club de Madrid, the UNESCO, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the European Commission. He trained civil society and members of governmental institutions such as civil servants, judges, prosecutors and judicial officers in the topics of intercultural competencies and radicalization.
