Ivan Pictet joins the Board of the Kofi Annan Foundation

The Kofi Annan Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ivan Pictet, banker and philanthropist, to the Board of the Kofi Annan Foundation. 

“I am delighted to welcome Ivan Pictet to the Board of the Foundation,” said Chair of the Board Elhadj As Sy. “Ivan brings to the Board several decades of experience from a distinguished career in finance. His expertise in private-public partnerships and effective governance will be of great value to the Foundation as it works to help build peaceful, democratic and resilient societies.”

“Kofi Annan was one of the most esteemed persons I have ever met,” Mr. Pictet said. “We were close friends for over 20 years, during which time I had the privilege of seeing him on a frequent and regular basis. Our friendship has inspired my commitment to promote multilateral cooperation and public-private partnerships. I’m joining the Kofi Annan Foundation and will endeavour to honour and uphold his legacy.”

More about Ivan Pictet

Ivan Pictet is a former Senior Partner of Pictet & Cie and was President of Fondation pour Genève until 30 September 2020. He joined Pictet & Cie in 1972 after earning an MBA from the School of Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen and starting his career at Morgan Stanley in New York.

He was appointed Partner of Pictet & Cie in 1982 and retired as Senior Partner in June 2010.

Ivan Pictet is also active outside the banking sector, having served as President of the Investment Committee of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund, President of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as President of the Geneva Financial Center Foundation (Fondation Genève Place Financière). He was also a member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum. He served on the Board of Directors of the Russian oil and gas company PJSC Lukoil from 2012 to 2019. And until it was dissolved at the end of 2014, he was a member of the International Advisory Board of the Blackstone Group International Limited.

He is currently President of: the Board of Directors of Symbiotics; the Board of Directors of PSA International SA; the Fondation Pictet pour le développement; and the Fondation Portail des Nations.
