Mary Robinson to deliver 2024 Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address on 15 October 2024

The Kofi Annan FoundationGeneva Graduate Institute, Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, and Caux Initiatives of Change Foundation are pleased to announce the 2024 edition of the Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address, a high-level lecture on peace, held every year as part of Geneva Peace Week.

The 2024 Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address: Rising Peacebuilders will be delivered by Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders, first woman President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The event will also feature Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, member of The Elders and President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Peace Institute.

2024 Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address to feature an intergenerational dialogue

Both Mary Robinson and Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein will interact and debate with young peacebuilders on topics such as fostering social integration, achieving equality between all genders, upholding human rights and fundamental freedoms and enhancing the role of civil society.

Ahmad Fawzi, one of Kofi Annan’s former spokespersons and Communication Advisors, will moderate the event.

Musical Performance

The 2024 Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address will also include a special performance of Bach’s Prelude on the Cello from Junseo, a Year 9 student from La Grande Boissière Campus and member of the Ecolint Orchestra.

The Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address will be held in the Ivan Pictet Auditorium at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday, 15 October, at 6 pm CET, as part of Geneva Peace Week. It will be live-streamed. Registration to attend in person is done via the official website of the Geneva Graduate Institute. 

The Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address is organised with the support of the Republic and State of Geneva and the City of Geneva.
