IDEA and the League of Arab States launch the Arabic version of Deepening Democracy

The Arabic version of Deepening Democracy: A Strategy for Improving the Integrity of Elections Worldwide was launched today (20 May 2013) in Cairo, by International IDEA and the League of Arab States.

This is the report of the Global Commission on Elections, Democracy and Security, a joint initiative by the Kofi Annan Foundation and International IDEA, where Mr Kofi A. Annan served as the Chair along with 11 other renowned members.

Speaking at the launch event were:

Dr Nabil Elaraby, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States

Mr Vidar Helgesen, Secretary-General of IDEA, and member of the Global Commission

Dr Rima Khalaf, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and member of the Global Commission
