On 21 November, the Kofi Annan Foundation was delighted to participate in the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform session, which highlighted the work of three exceptional Kofi Annan Foundation Young 2024 Changemakers. These inspiring individuals are driving innovative peacebuilding efforts around the globe.
Meet the Young Changemakers:
- Laura Pistarini Teixeira Nunes (Italy/Brazil, based in Romania): Advocates for social justice and peace education through PATRIR, supporting Ukrainian civil society.
- Victor Okechukwu Chimezie (Nigeria): Founder of Mind Reformers Network, empowering youth as peacebuilders through education and workshops.
- Sameer Ali Khan (Pakistan): Founder of Collective Pakistan, addressing online hate speech and fostering peaceful coexistence.
A Platform for Dialogue and Collaboration
The session explored the intersections of local and global peacebuilding efforts, with a focus on intergenerational dialogue. Insights were shared by Geneva Peacebuilding Platform members, including Principles for Peace, Interpeace, and the CCDP – Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding, alongside perspectives from Shruti Satish, president of the Geneva Graduate Institute’s Peacebuilding Initiative.
The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, sparking meaningful dialogue and fostering collaboration among participants. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of empowering the next generation of peacebuilders to create sustainable, positive change.
