About the Kofi Annan Commission on Food Security

Despite living in an age of unparalleled innovation and resources, 733 million people still face hunger, and nearly one-third of the global population experiences food insecurity. For too long, supply and demand have been the central focus, and addressing the systemic issues that perpetuate food insecurity has slid under the radar.

The solutions to hunger and poverty exist, yet they remain out of reach due to a broken global food governance system.

In April 2024, The Kofi Annan Commission on Food Security (KACFS) was launched to confront these challenges head-on. Comprising seven global leaders in food security and governance, the KACFS has created a roadmap to address these systemic failures and redefine how we address one of humanity’s most pressing challenges.
