Mr. Arnauld Akodjenou had a long and distinguished career with the United Nations and is currently the Kofi Annan Foundation special advisor for Africa.
From 2014 to 2015, he was Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, at the Assistant Secretary-General level in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and from 2011 to 2014, he was Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, in the United Nations Operations in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI).
He also served for over 25 years with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), including as Regional Coordinator & Special Adviser for the South Sudan situation to the High Commissioner, Inspector General, Director of the Division of Operational Services, and Director of Emergency and Security Services.
Mr. Arnauld Akodjenou holds a PhD in Political Science from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon and a Bachelor’s in History from the University of Benin.
