The Kofi Annan Foundation, International Peace Institute, International Crisis Group, and Open Society Foundations are delighted to announce the “Kofi Annan Lecture Series”, an annual series taking place in New York in September each year. The lecture series will take place around the time of the high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly, beginning this year in September 2022.
The lectures will focus on issues that Secretary-General Annan prioritised, including peacemaking, peacebuilding, and strengthening the international system.
We hope the Lecture Series will be inspired by the legacy of Kofi and galvanise the same type of leadership infused by the values of the United Nations.
– Nane Annan
The lectures will be opportunities for speakers to set out new ideas and agendas for international cooperation and diplomacy, recalling Secretary-General Annan’s role in championing rules-based cooperation and sustainable solutions.
