STATEMENT FROM THE AU PANEL OF EMINENT AFRICAN PERSONALITIES
Thursday , Nairobi – The Chairman of the AU Panel of Eminent African Personalities, Kofi Annan,
today held meetings with Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the Speaker of the National Assembly
Kenneth Marende.
Their discussions focused on the implementation of the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation
(KNDR) and developments in Kenya since Mr. Annan’s last visited in early October.
A spokesman for Mr Annan, Robert Watkinson, said, “Mr Annan is pleased to be once again in Kenya
and is looking forward to further meetings next week with individuals and organizations involved in the
country’s reform agenda.”
From 6 to 8 December 2009, Mr. Annan will be joined by fellow Panel Member Mrs. Graça Machel.
During this visit to Nairobi, Mr. Annan is also chairing a meeting of the Board of Directors of the
Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), which is headquartered in Nairobi.
There will be a press encounter with the two AU Panel members at the conclusion of their visit on
Tuesday 8 December.
