Kofi Annan to visit Kenya 2-8 December – AU Panel of Eminent African Personalities

MEDIA ADVISORY FROM THE AU PANEL OF EMINENT AFRICAN PERSONALITIES

Tuesday, 1 December 2009, Nairobi – Mr. Kofi Annan will be visiting Kenya from 2 to 8 December 2009. From 2 to 4 December, Mr. Annan will be chairing a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), the headquarters of which is in Nairobi.

From 6 to 8 December 2009, Mr. Annan, Chairman of the AU Panel of Eminent African Personalities, will be joined by Panel Member Mrs. Graça Machel to review progress in the implementation of the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation (KNDR) process.

Mr. Annan and Mrs. Machel are looking forward to holding discussions with President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, members of the Dialogue Team and other political personalities. During their visit, Mr. Annan and Mrs. Machel will also meet representatives of civil society, religious leaders and the business community, members of the diplomatic corps, and other stakeholders.

There will be a press encounter with the two AU Panel members at the conclusion of their visit.
 

Mr. Annan will be joined by Mrs. Graça Machel to review progress in the implementation of the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation process.

The AU Panel of Eminent African Personalities is chaired by former UN Secretary-General Mr. Kofi Annan. The other members of the Panel are Mr. Benjamin Mkapa, former President of Tanzania, and Mrs. Graça Machel of Mozambique.
