Bijan is Head of Communications at the Kofi Annan Foundation. He also served as Kofi Annan’s communications advisor and spokesperson until Mr. Annan’s passing in August 2018. Bijan uses media relations, branding and marketing, digital communications and any other relevant communications tool to tell stories that impact lives for the better and explain the Foundation’s mission and relevance.
In 2017, together with the Foundation, he received the Digital Communications Award for the communications campaign around “Extremely Together”, the Foundation’s youth programme countering violent extremism. He publishes articles on navigating the complex world of public communications in the digital age, most of which can be found on LinkedIn.
Before taking on his current role at the Foundation in 2013, Bijan spent several years in conflict zones, heading communications department and honing his crisis communications skills for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in India, South Sudan, Nepal, Afghanistan and at its Geneva headquarters.
