Former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has been named a Columbia University Global Fellow and is expected to give lectures, host conferences and moderate events at the elite school.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has been named a Columbia University Global Fellow and is expected to give lectures, host conferences and moderate events at the elite school.

Columbia also announced Thursday that former Austrian chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer and former Hong Kong chief executive Tung Chee Hwa will join Annan as Columbia Global Fellows next year.

The university says it expects Annan will participate in Columbia’s World Leaders Forum on campus and abroad.

Annan and the United Nations shared the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize.

Annan also leads the Kofi Annan Foundation and is chairman of the board for the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa.
